I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

The Geek Girl series is ane of my all time favourite UKYA book series, and fifty-fifty though I was sorry that the finale was soon to be published, I was overjoyed at the chance to read an early copy, and dove straight correct in.

In the final instalment, we come across Harriet trying to balance her new boyfriend, Jasper, with her home life, every bit well as her fledging modelling career, which is neigh on going down the pan. When her final hazard to succeed leads to a trip down-under, complete with best friend Nat, and wacky grandma, Bunty, she was sure in that location'd be no risk she'd run into her ex-boyfriend, King of beasts Confront himself, Nick, because, well, Commonwealth of australia is a actually big state. Isn't it? Obviously, that didn't happen, only Harriet has other things to deal with, peculiarly when she believes someone close to them both is sick, and she can't do annihilation about it.

Allow me tell yous, I honestly recall this was my favourite book out of the entire series. Harriet has stolen a office of my heart, and I don't think I'll e'er me able to become information technology back. We've seen her develop, and grow, into the best person ever, someone who hasn't lost her ow wackiness and originality, and her geekiness. I truly wish I either was her, or knew someone like her when I grew up. Everything most her is and so commendable, and I really believe this series is perfect for everyone, no matter gender or historic period. We should all read this series.

I think most people know who my favourite love interest for Harriet was, though she is a stiff independent woman who don't need no human. I was really happy with this series, and how much of the fourth dimension Harriet realised she was perfect on her own, and needed to understand herself, before she was truly ready for someone else. That being said, at that place were a lot of cute moments in the volume in which I couldn't continue a smile off my face because of how shippy it was.

I honestly could not have asked for a better ending to this serial. Small-scale has completed the series, full circle, and Harriet is the best person she can be. Nothing has been left unanswered that needed solving, and I have absolutely no complaints about anything in this series. I'thousand sad that this is the terminate of Geek Girl but await forrard to more from the author in the time to come. If you, or someone close to yo hasn't read this series however, what are you playing at?! Get on it correct away!

OMG! I'm in my late 30s and I absolutely, thoroughly, completely, immensely enjoyed FOREVER GEEK. Hell, I'chiliad not fifty-fifty that much of a fan of Young Adult and it's been a while since the concluding time I read ane. Still, Harriet is irresistible and has a special place in my heart.

I haven't read all of the books in the Geek Daughter serial and I arraign my toppling TBR pile for that. So in case you're wondering if this 1 can be read as a stand alone, it sure tin can. If I did it, so can you. But of course, it's always all-time to follow the books in society, because...hey more Harriet Manners, what better reason than that.

Geek Daughter is the serial I wish I could read when I was a teenager. When I feared being in love with chemistry and all other sciences was uncool and geeky. Wish I had these books back then and embrace the trivial geek telling her 1 twenty-four hours she'll exist a super mum, a wife and an employee and volition take the best life ever. But there's a bumpy road to travel while we're able to run into things more clearly. I am however happy for the new generations which have this book and can easily download/buy/borrow a copy and devour these fun, funny and comforting books.

Equally it's been a while since I've read a YA and I was a bit skeptical. I didn't doubtfulness Harriet or Holly for that matter, but I wasn't sure if I'yard the audience for these blazon of books anymore. I didn't need to worry though as I totally loved it and read information technology under iv hours. Not that I'm a speedy reader, it's just that it'due south so damn adept.

Harriet is off to Commonwealth of australia with Bunty, her fabulous grandmother and her best friend Nat. She's kind of dating Jasper and has promised to talk to him, though she notwithstanding doesn't know how to ascertain their relationship. Typical Harriet fifty-fifty leaves him a nautical chart all marked with verbal times when she volition telephone call, though being in such an exotic country, one she's never visited and has and then many stuff to see, makes it a scrap hard to stay on the schedule. During the trip she gets into a lot of funny situations, as all amazing geeks do, and I laughed out loud at her clumsiness. All the same she's so cute and adorable, always honest and total of random facts she shares with anybody and anyone. These facts and the situations where she would come up with them were too hilarious. It'due south admittedly amazing and fascinating how her brain could come upward with such brilliant things in a second. But that'south Harriet Manners, so special and lovable.

While at that place are many characters in the book (at least in my opinion) and some of them having their come dorsum from the previous books, y'all will literally catch yourself turning the pages with the speed of light. Y'all know what else is so special about this book and the whole serial? There are merely and then many lovable characters, it's really hard to pick just one. This is usually not a trouble for me when I read other books, simply this time I simply can not brand my listen. Simply if I had to pick merely one, besides Harriet, it would definitely exist Bunty. She's the woman I wish I accept in my life, so full of life, pinkish hair, universe loving, spiritual, funny, caring, memorable. In my opinion, she and Harriet are the real stars of the volume. I as well loved Harriet's dad and pace mum, Annabel and loved the relationship they accept not only with each other but with Harriet besides.

While most of the book is funny and light hearted, I have to say I was teary past the end. Unfortunately, I tin can't tell y'all why considering it would be a big fatty spoiler..just OMG! I could feel eyes filling with tears and call back asking myself..how do I become from laughing out loud to being a huge mess? It'due south all downward to this book, wonderful, funny, lite hearted yet with such an emotional ending. I applaud to you, Holly for doing this and I thanks for giving united states of america Harriet. I haven't read many YA books but out of all those I've read, the Geek Girl serial volition stay my fave. Harriet is the ultimate YA heroine, a girl you lot wish you knew, a girl you wish was your family unit. She'southward the all-time teenage role model, speaking openly about her insecurities, existence oh so awesome in everything she does and doing it her way. She'south accepted who she is and we all know what teenagers are like. The raging hormones and guild's expectations keep on pushing them, making them want so desperately to fit in. Harriet shows u.s. that she doesn't need to fit anywhere cause she's in a league of her ain.

Wonderful finale to an amazing series and I wish Holly decides one twenty-four hour period to bring Harriet dorsum. I'd dearest to see her grown upwards as well equally see more of her friends and family. No matter how former yous are, just read this volume! If you're a teenager and ever felt left out (and we all did) just pick upwardly this serial and show the earth your ability!

Forever Geek was the perfect cease to the series. Highlights for me would have tone Nat in general, because she's been in that location for Harriet this whole fourth dimension, but now we finally have a book where they're not separated past oceans of unlike class schedules! Also, Annabelle and Richard, shoutout to them, of class, for being the coolest parents in any YA e'er.

2 stars.

This was a pretty disappointing stop to the series, to be honest. Despite Harriet having accumulated 5 whole books worth of life lessons, she still makes the same mistakes in this last instalment, over and over and over once more, with and through her arrogance, her disability to communicate, her bossiness, her compulsive lying , and her whole "Harriet knows all-time" mentality, despite the fact that she really doesn't, and quite frankly, I was getting tired of information technology.

This was a pretty disappointing end to the series, to exist honest. Despite Harriet having accumulated 5 whole books worth of life lessons, she withal makes the same mistakes in this last instalment, over and over and over again, with and through her arrogance, her inability to communicate, her bossiness, her compulsive lying , and her whole "Harriet knows best" mentality, despite the fact that she really doesn't, and quite frankly, I was getting tired of information technology.

I sympathise that it takes time to abound out of habits ingrained in y'all, but in the course of vi books, we've passed past about two years of her adolescence, a time period in an individual'south life where you arguably do the most growing. And the whole premise of each book is about her personal catharsis and coming-of-age. So I have a hard time empathizing when this protagonist had no character development whatever throughout an accumulation of effectually 2400 pages (+ about 600 more than pages if you count the novellas). Every single book fabricated me doubt Holly Smale's ability to come up upwardly with an innovative plot. It felt like that time in high school where my French instructor asked us to write an essay on "globalization" and my cultural studies teacher asked the states to write an argumentative essay on "commercialism and its pros and cons" and so I just ended upwardly recycling the same essays for both classes later tinkering and switching up a few words and sentences.

I as well felt like the ending was as well cookie-cutter; as in, she added drama for drama's sake in the terminal book, and so she realized this is the last instalment of the series, so let's patch things up existent quick. I'k non okay with that. (view spoiler)[ There was practically no denouement between the disentangling of Harriet and Jasper'southward relationship. It just came to be and everyone was okay with it. I take a hard fourth dimension believing Jasper would have been and so fine with everything so quickly; so okay with it, in fact, that he even sees Harriet and Nick together one week afterward their break-up and he but nods??? or something??? All information technology shows me is that Jasper didn't like her at all and since he was the 1 to pursue her in the last volume, that assumption seems unlikely. It frustrates me to no end considering the author is making the characters become back on their feelings! which are clearly even so there! merely because it's user-friendly for the ending that she'south imagined for her protagonist! Another matter that bellyaching me was that nosotros didn't really get a chance to experience Harriet's grief over her grandmother passing abroad at all. It was a perfect opportunity for the author to evidence us her talent, to prove to her that she tin write emotional scenes, but she took the piece of cake way out. Yet again. (hide spoiler)]

I don't know how the last book for what was a consecutive 3-star series could disappoint me so much (because how could yous exist and then devastatingly disappointed by something so mediocre to being with?), but it did. The only thing I enjoyed nearly this book is how much nosotros've seen of Nat (and how much of a cracking friend she is to Harriet). As well the return of Nick. Nick is lovely.

But I was reluctant to make a showtime on Forever Geek, and it sat in my app for a few days before I began. I wanted to make this serial last forever, and not accept to read the final words and acknowledge it was all over. Forever Geek takes us to Australia on the trip of a lifetime. Harriet gets to model only have her best friend with her, likewise as Bunty. She is excited for this new risk, but as well knows it isn't all about her and has a secret plan.

Forever Geek was and so much more than I expected. I love seeing how far Harriet has come throughout this series, and nosotros see all this in the means she helps Nat with her fashion designs, how she makes plans to help some other person, and even more so towards the cease of the book.
We also meet how much Harriet has rubbed off on Nat, and how perfect this friendship is. I loved that Nat knew everything about Harriet, and that Harriet too knows Nat.

"Owls can rotate their heads by 2 hundred and lxx degrees," I say sharply. "Natalie, practise I look similar an owl to you?"
"Well, you do have unnaturally large, circular eyes. And that bird documentary you made me watch last year said they eat whole mice and and so barf up the skeleton. I've definitely seen you do that with a chocolate wrapper."

Forever Geek is a book filled with take a chance, laughs, mishaps, and because its Harriet, facts. I savoured every page of this book, taking my time and prolonging the ending. But we warned, information technology's too an emotional book. At that place are a lot of touching moments where we meet Harriet looking back at her time spent modeling, reminiscing over the places and events. There is also a sad moment where a box of tissues simply will non exist plenty, and that bar of chocolate you were saving for later is suddenly in your hands. This was something I did not expect, and I sobbed my heart out.

Forever Geek is a book you lot just have to purchase, and treasure, and instead of leaving you with my final thoughts ( buy this volume ), I'm going to leave you with a quote instead.

But then, with a rush, I can all of a sudden hear them all: every single unkind give-and-take I've e'er been chosen.
Circling in the air in a higher place my caput like angry flies: buzzing and buzzing, as if they're desperate to observe somewhere to land. Ugly. Freckles. Nobody. Ho-hum. Loser. Spotty. Carrots. GEEK.
Simply for the first fourth dimension, they can't seem to settle or stick on me. There's nowhere for them to become.
Notwithstanding smiling, I reach a mitt upwardly and outset batting at them: hit the words, one by one, until they're dead on the flooring. Empty ghost words that have no meaning, no utilize, no purpose, no truth in them.
Definitions that aren't in my dictionary whatsoever more.
Because from this betoken onwards, nobody gets to cull the vocabulary I employ for myself but me.

Simply two pocket-sized things niggled at me: one, the Australian slang was a petty off; and two, I predicted the reveal from the very kickoff. It still made me emotional but yep, it was a tad obvious. Or I idea so.

I will definitely miss this series though, Harriet might be frustrating to the max, but the modelling (whenever that happened) was good and fun, Harriet's friends were a delight (though I had to get used to Toby), Harriet's parents and sister were hilarious, Bunty was fantastic.

Instead of the normal review I will make a good/bad review as I am quite tired, but I still want to tell everyone what I thought nearly the book.

Commencement upward the good:
-Australia! I just loved that Harriet, Nat, and Bunty went to Australia for a vacation trip! It is only a shame that they didn't actually get anywhere (yes Sydney, and then when Harriet went to observe Nick), but it is the idea that counts. Next time though information technology would be fun to meet them explore a bit more.
-In that location is some modelling. I was already worried in that location would exist none, simply in the terminate in that location were 2 modelling jobs for Harriet. And they were oh then fun. Especially the beginning one. I laughed so difficult at what she had to do, if only she had asked. :P
-Nick and Harriet. (view spoiler)[I will talk over the other side of my feelings in the bad role. One function of me is definitely squealing in delight. These 2 are my favourite coupling and I just love them together. Both of them are lovers of the facts and information technology was always fun to run into Nick tell facts likewise. The ending, the kiss, everything? It was cute! As were the flashbacks that popped upward. (hide spoiler)]
-The seriousness in the book. It was still by and large lighthearted but at that place were some parts that had me in tears. :(
-Nat. I am so glad to run across Nat she is a fun graphic symbol, and I loved that she was able to travel with Harriet to Australia. Non merely that simply that she is also working hard to brand a name for herself in the globe of mode. It was such a delight to see her low-cal up similar a Christmas tree when Harriet told her of the plan.
-The ending was perfection. Definitely a perfect closing to a good series.

Now for the bad:
-Harriet. Lamentable, on the one paw I just love this girl, but generally I but desire to throw something at her head and hope she gets some common sense. Considering she is conspicuously still missing that. There were lots of moments in this volume that just had me frustrated. If merely she would only stop, think, and retrieve some more. But oh no, this little girl merely goes into a frenzy immediately. *rolls eyes*
-What was going on with Yuka. (view spoiler)[I just knew immediately it wasn't Yuka. Who it was, well the hints are there and I establish out quite soon who it actually was. And and so I was just frustrated with everyone for not telling Harriet. She is 16, going on 17. Aye, she acts like a 12-year old at times, but actually? This is her grandma nosotros are talking about, why are you lot hiding this huge matter from her? She had to notice it out through other people that her grandma had cancer and was dying. What the hell? (hide spoiler)]
-The whole: You lot must be British. I simply was slightly annoyed with that later a while. Yeah, we get it.
-The fact that Harriet didn't know that Australia also used Celcius..... I was but rolling my eyes at this office, I would retrieve Harriet would know simply the US and its territories use Fahrenheit..
-Nick and Harriet and Jasper. (view spoiler)[ Lamentable but I was just highly fucking pissed off at Harriet for being the bowwow she was. You have a FUCKING boyfriend. You lot have someone at home who likes y'all. And what practice you practice? Chase after Nick because he is your soulmate. Lamentable, I know she was going later on him due to Yuka, but really, do you lot believe that? Hahahahahahahah, no. I don't. She missed him, she wants him, and that is the only reason she was and so creepy.
I felt sorry for Jasper, he is a sweet guy (sky's know why he is with Harriet), and I just wanted to hit a certain someone for existence so crappy towards him. He fifty-fifty made time, he hid in a closet then he could talk to you. Merely hey, all those schedules you fabricated don't mean a craps butt practise they now? I definitely didn't like how she was first obsessed with the schedule, and Jasper, only as soon as Nick pops in she just drops Jasper like he is worth cipher. I promise that she won't observe a new person in her life, because sorry Nick she will drop you similar y'all are worth aught in the blink of an eye. (hide spoiler)]

But all in all I enjoyed this final book, I will miss the serial. I have been post-obit it since the outset book came out, looking forward to each new book, pre-ordering them as they popped up on Amazon. Hopefully one twenty-four hours Holly Smale will write a new series. Also plus points go to the comprehend!

I received an ARC from Netgalley in render for an honest review. (bodily rating 3.5 stars)

In the concluding instalment of the Geek Girl series, Harriet and Nat travel to Commonwealth of australia with Harriet'due south grandmother – Harriet to (inevitably) model, and Nat to hopefully raise her social media profile in the fashion earth. Merely, of course, Harriet'due south romance woes inevitably complicate the state of affairs – can her and Jasper's incipient relationship survive the long distance? And what volition happen in she perhaps, perchance, runs into ex-boyfriend Nick?

It's hard to review a book when you're six deep into a serial. The Geek Girl books all follow pretty much the same formula – a serial of misunderstandings and mistakes outcome in Harriet getting into more and more ridiculous situations, until things come to a head, misunderstandings are resolved, and a happy(ish) ending ensues, commonly with some unexpected triumph in either the modelling or romance department. If you lot enjoyed the previous books, yous'll enjoy this.

One thing I liked near this final instalment is that this repetition and inevitable snowballing of events in Harriet's life is flagged at every turn. Even Harriet is, at this point, both unsurprised and frustrated at the absurd situations she finds herself in. She realises she makes mistakes. She realises that she is, mayhap, not the easiest person to be around. And if that's not character development, I don't know what is – both for Harriet equally a protagonist, but also Smale as an author. It was fun to sentinel Smale say 'this is exactly what every single book has been like, isn't Harriet's life ridiculous?'

The story also had a larger emotional touch than some of the other books, due to the events of the story. Rather than struggling against mean girls and fashion mishaps, Harriet undergoes some actually painful experiences in this volume. I idea this was well written, and information technology was good to see Harriet's more absurd bug transition into existent emotional pain and the growth that results from that.

The main focus of the story (autonomously from spoilers that I can't divulge) is of course Harriet's love life. Volition she and Jasper endure, and what will being on the same continent as Nick result in?

SPOILERS ENSUE: (view spoiler)[ To be honest, I both did and didn't similar the resolution to the mild love triangle dynamic – I call up peradventure information technology was realistic and unrealistic in equal amounts. On the one hand, sometimes romances and incipient crushes fizzle and you lot realise you lot're better off equally friends. On the other paw, I read this book three months after a housemate's boyfriend broke up with her, and the resolution whereby people who intermission upwardly go dorsum together struck me at this particular bespeak as very damaging. I know it tin can definitely happen. But at the same time, I prefer stories where y'all're shown not to have one single beloved in your life, and that multiple people can fit you romantically. (hide spoiler)]

Overall, I think this volume was a good shut to a series that I've ever enjoyed. Information technology'due south not my favourite volume series by whatsoever means – I have some problems with the graphic symbol of Harriet, as I always have, equally I recall she plays into some inaccurate stereotypes of 'geeks'. But if you want a nice middle grade romance read, I would say that this is a adept go-to book.

It'south a scrap hard for me to detect words for a review for this, the final volume in the Geek Girl series, as I spent a fair fleck of time crying just at present (I cry easily, depending on my mood, so this isn't necessarily a spoiler), but .. anyway, it'southward a good end to a series I've enjoyed far more than than I peradventure should have, seeing as I'k not really in the target grouping, existence a couple of decades as well old.

It's a bit hard for me to detect words for a review for this, the concluding book in the Geek Girl series, as I spent a fair bit of fourth dimension crying just now (I cry easily, depending on my mood, and then this isn't necessarily a spoiler), but .. anyway, it's a good end to a series I've enjoyed far more I mayhap should have, seeing as I'yard not actually in the target group, beingness a couple of decades too old.

Just I've been .. well, not a Harriet, but immature, and awkward, and bullied, so I suppose there's that.

Anyway. I don't really want to go into spoilery details in this review so I'll just say that information technology's a good book. Perhaps about 75% of it was relatively lightweight (if with an always-increasing sense of dread over Harriet very, very clearly having misinterpreted something painfully obvious), but the last quarter certainly wasn't. And I liked the mode it ties upwards all the loose endings and provides conclusions in a manner that you know that this is it for one phase, i part of these characters' lives, but that they're all embarking on the adjacent stages of their life.

* ARC of this volume was provided past the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review. Thanks!

I am going to miss Harriet Manners. This is the last of her epic shenanigan books and I tin safely say this is one of my favourite series's always! To me Harriet was always man. Yep, she fabricated a whole load of mistakes but she's only 16 and that's what nosotros all did at that age. Did you ever really like a male child or girl and then trip over something unexpected and make a fool of yourself? Or spit out your drink accidentally when you're trying to be cool in front of someone? Mine was walking into the dorsum of I am going to miss Harriet Manners. This is the last of her epic shenanigan books and I can safely say this is one of my favourite series's ever! To me Harriet was always human. Yes, she made a whole load of mistakes just she's only xvi and that's what we all did at that age. Did you ever really similar a boy or girl and then trip over something unexpected and make a fool of yourself? Or spit out your drink accidentally when you lot're trying to exist absurd in front end of someone? Mine was walking into the back of another person while trying to flip my pilus back. See, we all have a fleck of Harriet in us. In the terminate she e'er got at that place, only for me, it was always near Harriet's journey.

Equally nosotros know from the end of Head Over Heels, Harriet and Nat are off to OZ with Bunty equally chaperone. Harriet is very excited nearly the opportunity she's been given. She likewise knows information technology'southward a large hazard for Nat to show off her skills as a designer. Harriet has it all worked out. Social Media, Website, business cards et al. She's going to help Nat exist a star of her own.

Only nothing quite goes to plan. Harriet's good intentions are out for show, she's really trying hard not to be the over-calculated, super-organised, arranger-of-everything blazon of friend. She'due south over that now. What she does instead is but muck everything else upward. From Nats business organization cards, to her social media descriptions, to getting a modelling chore with a couple and non even request what the job is. I must admit I was worried nearly that i before that revelation happened.

Nick appears dorsum into her life for a dissever five minutes and is gone again. And with that fleeting glance Harriet's emotions plow upside downward and inside out. She starts on a down spiral that no one tin escape from, including her friends at abode.

Forever Geek did close Harriet's chapter nicely regardless of the sad (and happy) ending. I can imagine Ms Smale is now awfully glad she doesn't have to notice quotes or facts or examples from the most obscure topics any more. Simply they were an integral part of Harriet, fifty-fifty when she did go off sometimes into a little world of her own and use them as an avoidance tactic.

Ms Smale created a wonderful list of characters that volition also be dearly missed. Wilbur (bur not iam), Rin with her crazy thing for dressing up cats, Toby, Jasper, and Harriet'southward Dad all had their own little -isms and filled out Harriet's world.

Give it some other few years and I'd love to read how Harriet has grown upward. Please, Ms Smale, please!!
